  • Film that is to be disposed of should not be burnt in the open air. It is recommended that film be disposed of by contacting the Farm Relief Services to collect used plastic for recycling or dispose of it at an authorised landfill waste site or incinerator.

Your Guarantee For Success

  1. For maximum feed value from your silage, grass should been be ensiled at the correct stage.
  2. Avoid soil contamination at the cutting and ensiling stages.
  3. Grass must be wilted properly (depending on weather conditions) for approximately 24 - 48 hours to obtain a dry matter of 25% - 40%.
  4. To ensure a compact, even, high density bale, Baler Operator should drive steadily.
  5. Wrap bales as soon as possible after making, ideally within two hours. (This prevents heating and loss of valuable nutrients).
  6. Apply at least 4 layers of film using the 4x1 or 2x2 system.
  7. Film should be applied at no more than 70% Pre-Stretch and the tackier side of the film must be applied against the bale.
  8. Wrapped bales should be handled with proper equipment and due care taken to avoid damaging the film. Wrapped bales should be stacked as soon as possible and ideally within 12 hours of wrapping. Do not stack bales more than three high.
  9. Once bales are wrapped and stacked, avoid all further handling until required for feeding.
  10. Stored bales should be fenced off from livestock, netted to prevent bird damage and effective rodent and pest control steps taken. Inspect bales regularly and any damaged film should be repaired immediately.
