Hygiene
Hygiene is a critical but often underestimated pillar in building long-life cows.
The Durapak P-ACE Hygiene Protocol is a patented three-step system designed to help farmers create a cleaner, healthier environment for calves and livestock. The process starts with the physical removal of organic matter such as manure, bedding, and dirt. Next, a disinfectant is used to reduce harmful bacteria and pathogens. The third and most important step is the biological preparation and seeding of the environment with beneficial probiotics, helping to establish the right bacteria where calves live, eat, and rest.
Most hygiene programmes stop after cleaning and disinfection. P-ACE goes a step further by reapplying beneficial probiotics every 48 hours throughout the housing period. These beneficial bacteria help occupy surfaces before harmful bacteria can take hold, reducing disease pressure and supporting a more stable environment in the shed. By combining cleaning, disinfection, and ongoing probiotic seeding, the P-ACE Hygiene Protocol helps farmers provide calves with a healthier start, supporting performance, welfare, and long-term productivity.
